Set in a three-storey heritage shophouse
on Bukit Pasoh, Restaurant Zén
offers an intimate yet relaxed fine dining
experience. This sister restaurant to
chef-owner Björn Frantzén's Stockholm
flagship Restaurant Frantzén quickly
picked up two Michelin stars after opening
in 2018, and has since retained its three
Michelin stars for the second year in a row.
Despite the many accolades it's received,
there's no stiff formality here – in fact,
don't be surprised to find yourself nodding
along to the feel-good playlist, which is
curated by Frantzén himself. His view is
that there should be "no jazz or piano music
– more rock 'n' roll. We want to have fun
and we want our guests to have fun even
though we are very serious about our food".
The signature Zén experience revolves
around seasonal tasting menus based on chef
Frantzen's interpretation of Nordic, French
and Japanese cuisine – his take on kaiseki
dining. The flavours are balanced and
complex; each course creatively conceived
and flawlessly paced. The hospitality is
exceptional, and carried out with ease,
warmth and finesse.
