A wine bar with a rebellious streak, Rebel
Rebel focuses on the maestros and
mavericks of the wine world – terroir-driven
winemakers who have declared mutiny on
commercial winemaking, determined instead to
make wine without relying on additives, and
in a way that ensures that the wine's
flavours reflect its true origins.
Tucked away in an unmissable emerald-green
Bukit Pasoh shophouse, Rebel offers a list
of more than 200 different wines: fantastic
cuvées from a host of both familiar and
unexpected regions, and fascinating cult and
under-the-radar producers. Whether you're in
the mood for Burgundies, champagnes, rosés,
skin-contact wines, pet-nats, whites, reds,
or rare old vintages of Old or New Worlds,
there's something on the list for everyone.
Despite the excellent list, this is no
stuffy wine bar. At Rebel, the humans behind
the labels take centre stage – photos of
winemaker friends cover the walls, bringing
a more personal feel to the bottles on the
list – and the passionate team is more than
happy to share the story behind each bottle.
This laid-back atmosphere belies the fact
that Rebel Rebel is in fact not just a wine
bar. Here, you’ll find a selection of plates
that are both soulful and droolworthy, part
of the casual-yet-serious food scene that we
often find ourselves craving.
Rebel Rebel has been described as a
"convivial, unpretentious playground for
adventurous wine drinkers", and we couldn't
agree more. This is a place where you'll be
constantly surprised by new wine
discoveries, all in the company of fellow
wine geeks, friendly somms and just darn
good food. Expect no ordinary evenings here.
