The Roulot name is revered by many
as representing the finest of white wines produced
from Burgundy terroirs. Some of the purest and most
vivid Meursaults come from the cellar of
Domaine Roulot.

Jean-Marc Roulot has been in charge of the
domaine since 1989, when he decided to stay with the vines
rather than pursue a full-time career as a television and
film actor, subsequently bringing a fine domaine up into
the very top league. He is one of the few producers who
have managed to move from heavier to purer wines without
losing anything of the wines’ potential quality and
complexity. Everything is still in place — both the
greater pull of fabulous white Burgundy, as well as the
more detailed intricacies and subtle differences between
one terroir and another.
The wines are crafted, not in the sense of any
artificial construction, but by the interweaving of
layers. Jean-Marc Roulot uses this intense, delineated
style to give voice to a particularly wide array of
different sites he works with, delivering them with
stunning definition.
Domaine Roulot has long been a single-vineyard
specialist, as exemplified by Jean-Marc’s father, Guy
Roulot. Today, Jean-Marc upholds the Roulot tradition,
championing the diversity of their terroirs while refining
the domaine’s classic restrained style. In doing so, he
has earned a reputation as one of the Côte d’Or’s finest
winemakers for the beautiful purity, elegance, complexity
and individuality of his domaine wines.
Starting with the 2014 vintage, Jean-Marc Roulot has
been working on a micro-négoce project that he
considers to be a natural extension of the domaine’s
portfolio. Only terroirs that are not already represented
within the domaine’s holdings are part of this selection.
Thanks to this, his gifted hands now produce a few coveted
crus in Puligny-Montrachet, Corton-Charlemagne and, of
course, Meursault.
All grapes are hand-harvested and selected in the
vineyard, and wines are vinified, raised, and bottled in
the Roulot cellars by Jean-Marc Roulot. He dictates the
harvest date, and all fruit arriving at the domaine’s
cuvérie receives the exact same treatment as the domaine's
own grapes, including the vinification, élevage in barrels
and bottling process. These wines are, unsurprisingly,
very limited in production.
In any given vintage, Jean-Marc
Roulot delivers the finest expression of the growing
season, with ease and in his inimitable style. The
2019s here comprise yet another stunning set of
incredible white burgundies, though the small
harvest means that production was even more limited
than usual. It’s our great privilege to offer to you
today these always glorious collectibles.

Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru 2019
|
S$ 3,330 + GST / 1,500 ML
|
[For
2018:] “A distinctly
cool and highly restrained nose offers up
wonderfully pure aromas of essence of
white-fleshed fruit, lavender, citrus rind
and a whiff of spice. There is a bit more
volume to the even more powerful
larger-scaled flavors that are strikingly
refined while exuding ample minerality on
the balanced and wonderfully persistent
finish. This is a Chevalier of power and
finesse with huge upside development
potential. Classy juice.” BH 93-96
[For 2018:]
“1 barrel
only… Fine light primrose colour. A very
pure, clear-cut nose, with little white
fruit notes, a slight oak sweetness, then
a swell of fruit at the front and more oak
behind, with a graceful acidity.” JM 94-98
